Mailbag Oct. 10: What Happened To Nick Williams On The Jet Sweep, Offense Doomed?

Q: DC, Completely agree with you. Nothing wrong with dink and dunk. Maybe get some completions and confidence for the QB.  Also, what happened to getting Nick Williams the ball on offense.  Those jet sweep plays they used against Umass haven’t been seen since, yet that toss sweep is getting nowhere (minus the one big run against UB) is being run over and over again. Kind of feels like the defense is being put in a position to succeed, but the offense is doomed to failure. Ken, Naugatuck

A: Not sure how much you can run the Jetsweep with the same guy. It opens up the same way, the Huskies have it on film. Maybe trying it someone else once in a while, too, could make it more effective. I’m not sure. There were that many toss sweeps run on Saturday. The offense has to do its job Ken. I think the message is clear there. Just have to do it. Saying it doesn’t mean anything.

Just read Jeff Jacobs article. Right on! Have to win this weak! Getting that feeling of futility and hopelessness with this offense.
