Mailbag Oct. 3: Seen This? The Crowd After The West Virginia-Baylor Game

by Categorized: Uncategorized Tagged: , Date:

Q: Dez, have you seen this video … … taken AFTER the West Virginia win over Baylor.  We are lucky to have that many people left in the stands at the beginning of the 4th quarter of a tie game against a top 25 opponent – John Dupuis, Hillsborough, NJ

A: It’s always like that after a game out there. That’s how it’s supposed to be win or lose – supposed to be. It’s a different deal there on a lot fronts than here, obviously….I would have stayed in my seat after that particular game hoping for another quarter! Are you kidding me, 70-63?

Dez, do you think someone can tell that nitwit announcer to at least wait a few seconds while we attempt the P.A.T. before he tries to sell us a Sleepy’s mattress! he is horrible..

Fans arriving late and leaving early drives me crazy, i would have welcomed just one Michigan fan leaving early the day UCONN went to the Big House as we were packed into our seats to the last play of the game…I never want to see that much yellow in one place again.

That’s great. WVU has great, passionate fans and I was sorry to see them leave our conference. We’re lucky to get people into the stadium before the second quarter for most games. Being told to sit down is terrible. Our seats are the last row of 139 and I stand for most of the game (nervous energy I guess). Go Dogs!

You want big crowds at Rentschler? You want a full house?
Remember what the late, great Al Davis said; “Just Win Baby!”

John D…Do understand that is their holy grail…

They do not have MLB, NFL, NBA or anything else to compete with other than hunting or fishing season.

Here we are the new kids on the block and the block is very fickle.

To add to your point we had two couples behind us on Saturday that were pissed because we were standing on third down, or to cheer for good O plays. It got a little bitter which is sad. I want to welcome new fans but when you look to the right and look to the left and everyone is doing the same thing even a new fan should have a clue. We were told that we were impolite and inconsiderate by standing for these plays. They were told you ain’t at the opera.

TheJerk and I stand at the last row of…well I don’t even know what section it is. 216? Oppisite the scoreboard. No issues with people telling us to sit…that would drive me nuts.

I can remember speaking to the Mountaineer mascot inn 2010 asking him why he wouldn’t shoot off his musket at The Rent. He said that the Connecticut athletic department didn’t want them to do. Why I have no idea. The Mountaineer said that the last time he was at The Rent (2008) he almost blew off his arm because WVU scored so much. This guy’s arm must have fallen off after 7o points plus extra points. Did they run out of gun powder last Saturday?
