Mailbag Sept.26: We Fail To Make Adjustments In Second Half

by Categorized: Mailbag Date:

Q: Desmond:I feel like we just fail to make the right adjustments in the second half of games like we used to do.  So I took a look at Uconn’s season total points scored for and against by quarter from the past 6 seasons (including 2013) and something jumped out at me.  Here is what I found… In 2012, Uconn won the first half of games 132-88, but lost in the second half 68-137.  What even stands out more about 2012 is we lost the fourth quarter 34-82.  The only other year we lost the second half of the games was 2008 when we lost 134-142, but actually won the fourth quarter that year 59-51.  One thing you can’t question though is how we prepare, we have won the first half of games every year since 2008.  My point for bringing this up is it seems like this year is headed for a repeat of 2012.  So far this year we have won the first half 34-33 but lost in the second half 26-56.  Obviously, need more of a statistical sample for this year.  However, worth a thought in the back of the mind as we watch the rest of this season play out Bryce, Boston

A: OK, Bryce. Thanks.
