What’s goin on, folks?

First, thanks for the chat time yesterday and a special thanks to John Silver of the Manchester JI for joining us. He was great.

Tuesday was the media session in Storrs where UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni spoke to the media; UConn players were made available and Maryland head coach Randy Edsall joined us by phone for a few minutes to preview the game and give us a little info on his Terrapins.

Edsall, the former UConn coach was good today, not very long, but good.

Lets hear a little bit from Edsall on his 2-0 Terps and returning to the place he helped build.

“It’ll be nice to come back and visit Rentschler Field. I have a lot of fond memories of Rentshcler, a lot of exciting games were played in there,” Edsall said. “The fans were great. I know what kind of tough environment it can be and so, I’ve just got to make sure we get our team prepared but no, I’m looking forward to it because I have all good memories of the times that I spent in that stadium.”

On the response he expects: “I’ve been in this business long enough that I think you’ll have..there will be boos and probably people that will cheer. That’s the nature of the profession that we’re in. Again, I’m just thankful the people that supported the program when I was there made me feel at home and just got behind our team and allowed us to do the things that we did, so..but anytime you go on the road you know nobody likes you. That’s just part of playing the game.”

On all those offensive weapons: “I think the one thing is having C.J. [Brown, 15x154, 4 TDs rushing, 34 of 45, 566 yards, 5 TDs] back as the quarterback has really helped us. It was unfortunate he got hurt last year and went through what he had to go through but he worked extremely hard to get back and I think he’s playing at a really high level. He’s playing with a lot of confidence. I think we have some really good pieces around him. You look at [WR] Deon [Long, 12 catches, 134 yards, 1 touchdown] and you look at Stefon [Diggs, 3x38 rushing, 11x277, 2 TDs receiving], you look at [WR] Nigel King,[WR], Lavern Jacobs, RB Brandon Ross (28×170, 1 TD), RB Kenny Goins and our offensive line has done a good job. I tried to get the best five guys we have there and I think they’re going to continue to get better each and every week but I think the thing that we have is we have guys that have the ability to make big plays and fortunately for us the first two games we’ve been able to do that.”

(Note: I mentioned yesterday the Terps have exploded for back-to-back 500-yard games for the first time in 15 years)..

On UConn Vs. Towson: “You watch the tape and you see what goes on in that game and I think that Towson was able to make a couple of plays in the passing game that really helped them come away with a victory and I thought UConn made some really good plays in that game as well and just didn’t make as many as Towson did.”
