UConn Athletic Communications – January 23, 2013 – Sio Moore Added To Senior Bowl Roster
STORRS, Conn. — University of Connecticut senior linebacker Sio Moore (Apex, N.C.) has been added to the roster for this Saturday’s Senior Bowl and will now be one of four Huskies in the game. Moore four tackles as he played for the East team in the annual East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Tampa, Fla. The West team won 28-13.
UConn cornerbacks Dwayne Gratz (Piscataway, N.J.) and Blidi Wreh-Wilson (Edinboro, Pa.) and linebacker Trevardo Williams (Bridgeport, Conn.) will also play in the Senior Bowl on January 26 in Mobile, Ala. The Senior Bowl will take place at Ladd-Peebles Stadium at 3:00 pm CT and will be televised live by the NFL Network.
UConn tight end Ryan Griffin (Loudonderry, N.H.) and outside linebacker Jory Johnson (Mobile, Ala.) both played for the “Stripes” team as the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic in Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday, Jan. 19. The “Stripes” team posted a 31-3 win over the “Stars” squad. Johnson had two tackles in the game while Griffin did not have any receptions.
UConn wide receiver/kick returner Nick Williams (East Windsor, N.J.) played in the the second annual Casino Del Sol All-Star Game for the East team. The contest was Friday, January 11 at Kino Stadium in Tucson, Ariz., and the West team won 40-7.
Husky wide receiver Mike Smith (Houston, Texas) will play in the annual Texas vs. The Nation at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 pm CT on Saturday, February 2.
