In case you missed it here’s last night’s game story,

…and here’s the report card….

OFFENSE

Quarterback

The numbers for Chandler Whitmer (29 of 46, 349 yards, two interceptions, one touchdown) look OK but a deeper look at those picks shows how big they were. The first, in the first half, Whitmer was going to deep to Shakim Phillips when Dexter McDougle robbed him the first time. It was a good play but that thing needed to be armed out there a little more and the Huskies needed to convert deep to help open the running game. The second interception, in the second half, which McDougle returned 49 yards for a touchdown, was just brutal. Whitmer fought hard all game. He will do that and deserves credit but he engineers too many stalled drives and his penchant for throwing to the other team remains high D Continue reading

Saturday’s Activities At Rentschler Field

Here are some of the activities taking place at the UConn Vs. Maryland football game:

Blue Out – Wear BLUE in support of the Huskies.

Green Gameday – With more than 50 UConn student volunteers at the game tonight, consisting mostly of EcoHusky and EcoHouse representatives, volunteers expect to collect and recycle more than 1 ton of bottles and cans from pre-game tailgaters at the stadium this evening. Green containers are available throughout the parking lots as well as on the concourse at Rentschler Field.

Fan Fest – In addition to several UConn Athletics sponsor giveaways, the UConn Men’s Basketball team will be in attendance signing autographs at the Marketing tent from 6pm to 6:45pm. Fan Fest is located between gates A and B. Continue reading

Maryland Coach Randy Edsall Checks In From College Park

What’s goin on, folks?

First, thanks for the chat time yesterday and a special thanks to John Silver of the Manchester JI for joining us. He was great.

Tuesday was the media session in Storrs where UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni spoke to the media; UConn players were made available and Maryland head coach Randy Edsall joined us by phone for a few minutes to preview the game and give us a little info on his Terrapins.

Edsall, the former UConn coach was good today, not very long, but good.
