I guess we all need to pick something else to gripe about, looking back at the July 5 mailbag you would have thought we had like two players. Recruiting going nicely. And then there is the players, wether it is for this class or next, from Xavier-Middleton that was reported here, that may follow Graham Stewart to Connecticut, although not through the Florida Gators this time!

Dc my man, where’s the guy who was concerned about the five recruits we has? How’s he feeling now? Lol

on a serious note, does the school sit on these things until the get a group and then realease everything at the same time? Correct me if I am wrong but this seems to happen alot with commits….. nothing, nothing, nothing, then all of a sudden 4 or 5 commit within 24 hours?

      School not releasing anything….

If you’re looking for a serious answer (or a guess on my part)…..camp evaluations have probably concluded and they sent out a new round of offers.

      • dconner says:

        Surely possible

OK next question is then, how do you typically here about commits then is mostly social media now? and what was it back in the old days before tweeter and facepage?

          • dconner says:

not social media just yet but I think the day is coming where that’s the norm

for me it’s just staying in touch with people and that could be from who the recruit knows, is close to, the recruit, in some cases, some cases their parents. A lot of different ways but it is against NCAA rules for a school to say anything about a recruit before he is signed. It was a nightmare in the past and I’m not going to lie when I was covering mens basketball it drove me into the ground because there was no other way to do it: find the recruit, call him about two or three times a week to see if he’s ready to or about to commit, sometimes he’d come to the phone, sometimes he wouldn’t, sometimes he’d mislead you just to give him space to make the decision, sometimes he’d deliver a message that he was not home – that you could hear. It wasn’t like that in most cases but any one or all of those scenarios could come into play at some point. Now, if you could imagine then add a competitive situation with the recruiting services. I remember writing stories where the recruit said absolutely nothing but because he was a recruit saying something (yeah I still like UConn) you had to write. I like doing it the way I do it now Chris and, it works.
