Here’s new UConn Coach Bob Diaco on the issue of getting out and selling UConn Football..
“The modus operandi as it relates to communcation is a little different now so we need to actually do a better job as a football organization of marketing and sales with how people communicate now – twitter, Facebook, texts,..We need to ramp that up.”
“I’m not exacly sure but we need to get that campaign rolling – from a football standpoint. Not an athletic department standpoint, just football. We need to put more information out there about what we’re doing and how exciting it is and how hard everybody is working. People that are interested in the program want to feel like they have some buy-in and an investment. So if you’re coming to the games or you’re buying the TV package or you’re signed in online to your website or whatever, there’s an investment there. So we’ve got to get some information back and forth so we can have some buy-in, some weigh-in, to complete that circle of engagement. That’s a positive thing,
“Now a little bit more old school paradigm is the grassroots, you know, get in the car, go to the Chili Cook-Off, go to the basketball game, go to the radio show, go community outreach. Get the players into the schools, get them into the hospitals, Get the players into the homeless shelter. Get the staff into the homeless shelter. Get the staff into these areas. Let’s get into the community and begin to not only help because it’s the right thing to do but also begin to create alignment with the people that support the program and care about the program.”
