UConn Gets Commitment From Big OT….From Belgium Andreas Knappe
What’s goin on just wanted to pass this along but UConn got a commitment today from Andreas Knappe, a 6 foot 9, 290-pound offensive tackle from Belgium.
Not sure of all it entails but UConn is working hard to get him in for this fall.

He was trained by 3 former UConn players while playing in denmark
As noted in the comments above, Knappe is from Denmark – not Belgium! He can play both OT and DE. He believes his ideal weight will be around 315lbs.
As noted in the comments above, Knappe is from Denmark – not Belgium. He can play both OT and DE – but either way he has to put a litte weight on his massive frame…
Get your facts Straight he is not frome Belgium or the Netherlands or Germany he is frome Denmark just like Morten andersen once upon a time the most scoring player in NFL
Just to correct the information. Knappe is not from Belgium, he’s from Denmark and has previously played for the Triangle Razorbacks in the top division here.
He was also coached by 3 former UConn football players. Zack Frazer Alex Molina and Alex Polito
after watching a minute of his scouting video, he immediately surprised me with how quick he shook off the offensive linemen and got to the quarterback…Dez any chance he sticks with Defensive end, or maybe becomes a DTackle? At 6’9″ it might be tough for his own QB to see over him, but if he was a DT the other QB couldnt see over him either. thoughts?

The Big East is in a Tailspin and Uconn is in a complete dive. The move to Division 1 is proving to be ill concieved. Multimillions of $$ have been spent to join the big time and thanks to the ACC and now Big 12 the league’s better teams are are raided and the remains are a not sufficient to be part the now BCS group. Any recruits take this into their concideration.
Was just wondering: could you explain how UConn football is in a complete dive? It’s one thing to throw an opinion and that’s ok but the facts are well facts and i just dont think there are any to support a comment like that but i could be miss something so, If you could, please show some facts to support your statement it would be much appreciated sir or if it’s your opinion lemme know that and we can move on.
of course it is opinion but let me try to support my position.
based on the recruiting rating groups ie Rivals and scout Ucoonn has been in the bottom three for recruiting classes for several years within the BE.
Now we are on the bottom. so far.
The demise of the Big East began in 04 with the ACC stealing three of the better programs deminishing the attraction of Athletes to the league. This continues with the recent raid.
The loss of the AC will again hurt recruiting.
I am not a rabid fan but I have been a BB fan for 40 years and a casual FB fan for the same time period.
Thanks for the opportunity to discuss with you. At least you are reading the comments.
Jay
So your basing your opinion about UConnFootball, the casual fan that you say you are, based on rivals and scout reports? Just want to be clearer – thanks
Also the loss of the AC, the weakening of the league etc. While I used casual I have beeb ab avid pfan since 2000 with the hopes of many Uconn fans but the cards have played out dramatically different than the forcast and it seems we are hanging on to the edge of the cliff with our nails slipping.
Thanks for the information DC.
Let’s Go Huskies!
You’re welcome JD
Dez,
As always, thanks. I had heard earlier that one of the new kids was posting out on a social media site that we (UConn) were bringing in a masive european player to line up at DE. It has to be the same kid. Your noet suggests the staff feels he would best be suited for OT. Correct? Thanks again,
Knappe coming to play OT
Spent some time in Belgium and Holland in May.
Holland has the tallest people in the world (whodathought?) and they grow ‘em big in Belgium too.
Not sure how good he is but if they’ve gone that far to get him the staff must believe he can do something. From the positive side, with a healthy and improving Jimmy Bennett might have something
Holland … That’s in the Netherlands…right, lol
Love TheJerk. I hope to meet him and Desmond, September 8, September 8, September 8!
If you do you will notice TheJerk is not a jerk at all -
what is sept 8th? Robert dont get your hopes up of meeting Dez. We’ve tried to lure him out of the press box for pre-game in the parking lot and he wont budge. Not even to meet several of his loyal blog readers and posters (Me, Navin, OldCrow, and Jane). We’ve tried with clam chowder, smoked turkey breast, teryaki beef, biscuits and gravy, sausage and peppers…. Come to think of it, maybe we were trying to lure the OLD football beat writer with that menu
Really sorry I missed that smoked Turkey breast, lol, you’ll see me out there
Yep I’ve missed some folks but I’ve caught up to many too ….
Eh hem….
so wait, is he from Belgium or France? which is it? or is this one of those things like the town of Florida Mass?
From Belgium …. Always mess that up with Brussels but clear in blog now
gotcha, see that its cleared up now. 290lbs, thats a lot of waffles
