UConn Gets Commitment Today From Dhameer Bradley, Speedster From Maryland, For 2013
What’s goin on?
UConn received a commitment to its 2013 class this morning from Dhameer Bradley, a 5 foot 10, 170-pound receiver from Eastern Christian (Elkton, Md.) Academy.
So far, Bradley joins Matt Barone, a 6-3, 280-pound guard from Montour (Pa.), Tommy Hopkins, a 6-6, 298-pound offensive tackle at Westlake (N.Y.) High and Noel Thomas a 6-1, 175-pound receiver/athlete from St. Luke’s school in New Canaan in UConn’s 2013 class.
Bradley, who camped at UConn last year, is coming up for the 7 on 7 competition at Coach Paul Pasqualoni’s camp the weekend of June 16th and follow that up will have unofficial in Storrs on Monday June 18.
Bradley had offers on the table from Hawaii, Temple and UMass. West Virginia and Oregon were also recruiting the 4.5-second 40-yard dasher.
I had a chance to speak with Dhameer and his dad, Bashir, a short time ago.
“I know he liked the program since Day 1,” Bashir said. “I know he really liked Matt Cersosimo, the guy who will be his position coach and who offered him the scholarship. This was easy for us as a family because Coach Cersosimo fell in love with Dhameer from the first day he saw him and has stuck with him ever since. That means something. I think he [Cersosimo] was, I don’t know, like Dhameer’s No.1 fan since the day he saw him.”
Said Dahmeer: “I like the facilities, the coaches, the school. I thought Coach Cersosimo did a great job recruiting me and showing that he wanted me at UConn. He stayed in contact with me for like two years. I feel like the program was the best fit for me. They’re giving me an opportunity, too, some wouldn’t because I’m not as big as a lot of people.”
Bradley is cut from the same mold as former UConn receiver Kashif Moore who is now with the Cincinnati Bengals.
