A Year Later, Jim Calhoun Still Figuring Out Life After Coaching

by Categorized: Jim Calhoun, UConn men's basketball

Spent 90 minutes with Jim Calhoun this week, as the first anniversay of his retirement approached. His mind is mercurial as ever … Interesting, insightful, complicated – never boring.

I asked him if there was anything crazy he wanted to do, and he immediately throught of the first President Bush, who went sky-diving in his 80s.

“I have no desire to sky dive or go bungie jumping,” Calhoun said, “I haven’t survived all this for a broken bungie cord to get me …”

Here is my piece on the coach for the Sunday Courant.

Details are ongoing for the tribute to Calhoun planned for Gampel Pavilion on Sept. 22.
