Brendan Allen Now On Scholarship, Four Walk-Ons Make Huskies

by Categorized: UConn men's basketball

UConn has put out its roster, walk-ons included.

One change – Brendan Allen is going on scholarship.

Allen, from Windsor, who made the team as a walk-on last year, greatly impressed the coaches before a hip injury slowed him. He was termed a “permanent walk-on” during the summer and early fall, as details were worked out. With scholarships available, UConn has made¬†Allen scholarship player No. 11.

The walk-on are: Terrence Ditimi, a 6-3 sophomore from Stamford. He will wear No. 33.

Tor Watts, 6-1 junior from Brooklyn, N.Y. (No. 14)

Dave Vandal, a 6-2 senior from Stonington. (No. 23)

Trey James, a 5-9 senior from Middletown (No. 20).

Good for him! Apparently he has talent. His HS coach was disappointed that he didn’t receive any scholarship offers when he was in HS, but he might be able to contribute something this season. . . . Too bas he’s not 6-11.

Dom, could we get a little background on these guys? Did they play elsewhere? Any accomplishments/accolades? Thanks! – Ted
