Shabazz Napier’s national stature continues to grow. His game-winning shot against Florida still fresh in everyone’s mind, a couple of analysts this week listed UConn’s senior at the top of their list of player of the year candidates.
First, Gary Parrish and colleagues of CBSSports.com placed Napier at the top, saying he has been “consistently terrific in a variety of ways.” Here is the complete post.
Then ESPN’s Eamonn Brennan listed Napier at the top of his Wooden Award Watch List:
Napier’s combination of late-game nerves and all-court wizardry can satisfy both the old-school “he’s a winner” types and anyone who takes a second or third look at his production. He has been great.”
Here is Brennan’s complete post.
The Huskies, now in final exam week, return to action next Wednesday night against Stanford at the XL Center.
