UConn vs. Maine: Setting The Scene at XL

by Categorized: American Athletic Conference, DeAndre Daniels, Kevin Ollie, Omar Calhoun, Phil Nolan, Ryan Boatright, Shabazz Napier, UConn men's basketball

HARTFORD – We’re about an hour away from the start of UConn vs. Maine at the XL Center. A few tidbits to set things up …

Same lineup for the Huskies, who are 8-0: Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright, Omar Calhoun, DeAndre Daniels, Phil Nolan. Why change?

Here is the advance story for the game in the Friday Courant.

Always a lot of conversation on twitter during the games about Calhoun/ Niels Giffey.  It didn’t sound, from talking to Kevin Ollie this week, like he was of a mind to make a big change there. He can go to Giffey any time for a spark. … Looks like everyone is out on the court healthy; Napier, who twisted his ankle on Monday, is moving around fine. One would assume it’s taped tight again, though.

Maine (1-6) is minus-10 in rebounding. So the Huskies can’t get outrebounded tonight, can they?

Here is our capsule look at the game.

Long break for exams coming up after this game, with Stanford next, on Dec. 18 here at XL.

The AAC has a 57-20 record against other conferences.

UConn has won 53 consecutive non-conference home games going back to 2007.

Here are some interesting numbers on the Huskies.
