STORRS - Ray Allen, who spent a lot of time at UConn during the NBA lockout, seems to have an emotional investment in the current Huskies. Though the Celtics had a game the night before, Allen came to UConn on Monday to watch practice and he spoke to the team afterward.

“It was vintage Ray Allen,” George Blaney said, “and it’s an example of what Jim [Calhoun] has built here, with the family atmosphere in this gym.”

Allen spoke about a variety of topics, using examples of things that have happened with the Celtics. Mostly, his message was about staying together and fight through adversity.

“I talked to Alex [Oriakhi] about it,” Tyler Olander said, “and then I went back home and thought about it.”

Allen and Andre Drummond had a one-on-one talk.

“He told us how to make each other better,” Ryan Boatright said.

Drummond said part of the message was picking each other up. “Don’t talk down to each other,” Drummond said.

Was he stopping by to drop off a check as his contribution to the new practice facility?
