Jim Calhoun has always been a creature of habit, and very loyal to the organizations that invited him to speak when he first came to UConn and was selling his program hard. One of those organizations is the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce, and Calhoun spoke at their monthly breakfast event every autumn as Huskies coach.

Calhoun is retired from coaching, but is apparently still going to be making a lot of his old stops. He will be speaking next Monday (Oct. 1) at the Middlesex breakfast for the 27th time. In the past, Calhoun has used the event to talk about his team, often going player-by-player, for the upcoming season. Will he talk about the 2012-13 Huskies? About Kevin Ollie? Or perhaps spell out some of his future plans?

This much we will say for sure: He will not be boring.

Some details from the Chamber:

The Breakfast will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road,

with “networking” beginning at 7 a.m. The breakfast Buffet opens at 7:45 and the

Breakfast Meeting Program run from 8 to 9.  Cost is $20 for Chamber members

and $30 for non-members.  The event is sponsored by Connecticare.

While we’re on the subject, here is a link I tweeted out yesterday, but want to share here as well. The New York Times ran a piece, sure to be nostalgic for UConn fans, on the players who came from Israel and helped change the UConn program under Calhoun.

Here is the story, for which Nadav Henefeld and Doron Sheffer were interviewed.
