Lamb, Drummond End Up With Big East Honors

by Categorized: Andre Drummond, Big East, Jeremy Lamb, UConn men's basketball

There were no surprises in the All Big East teams. Jeremy Lamb, though his season was not everything folks expected back in October, was nevertheless named to the First Team.

He averaged 17.6 points per game over 30 games, leading the Huskies and fourth in the Big East. We all tend to forget how young he is, and how young the entire UConn team was going into this season. Lamb was the only sophomore on the six-man first team. The others, Kris Joseph, Kevin Jones, Jason Clark, Darius Johnson-Odom and Jae Crowder are all seniors.

Ashton Gibbs of Pitt,  the pre-season Player of the Year, was an Honorable Mention.

Andre Drummond, who was the preseason Rookie of the Year, was named to the All-Rookie team. Again, perhaps too much was expected, but he did have nine double-doubles – as an 18-year-old in the Big East.
