Q: Hi Dom, enjoy reading your reports and your blog. UConn has recently received two large donations toward a new basketball facility. Does UConn have anything setup if the average fan wants to make a donation? When is it estimated that they will begin construction?

B: Hi Thom, thanks for the question. … I contacted UConn folks for an answer and - no surprise – they are more than happy to accept donations of any size. You can contact the Athletic Development
office at 860-486-3863 to get info you need.
The address is:
UConn Athletic Development Fund
UConn Foundation
P.O. Box 150430
Hartford, CT 06115-0430
As for when construction can begin, the recent donations you mentioned push the total raised to about $16 million, a little more than half of the total needed, estimated at $30 million. They are getting close to a point where they can go ahead and begin, and count on the remaining needed funds to come in. Just a guess-timate, but I would say they need another $3 or $4 million to put a shovel in the ground.
