Napier-to-Boatrght for the Dunk: It’s In The Running for Play of the Year

by Categorized: Ryan Boatright, Shabazz Napier, UConn men's basketball

If you watched the UConn victory at Notre Dame on Jan. 12, you probably came away remembering the alley-oop pass from Shabazz Napier to Ryan Boatright, who threw it down. If you need a reminder, check out the above post for the actual video!

It came at a key point in the game, too, stemming ND’s momentum. “It got real quiet in here,” Napier said afterward. The dunk put the Huskies ahead 52-48 with 7:40 to play. And it has been nominated for Geico Play of the Year honors.

Each week for eight weeks, four plays will be nominated and fans can vote for their favorite here. The eight finalists will then be up for a week-long vote for play of the year honors, the winner to be announced during the Geico Best of College Basketball special o n CBS on April 6.

Boatright’s dunk is in the running to represent “week three,” and the voting begins today and runs through next Monday, Feb. 4. Plays by Siena’s Rakeem Brookins, Mississippi’s Marshall Henderson and Bradley’s Walt Lemon, Jr. are the other finalists.
