If you’re a betting man, Kevin Ollie and Byron Scott are the co-favorites to get the Lakers head coaching job, according to the gaming website, Bovada.com.
Ollie, UConn’s national championship coach, and Scott, the former Laker with NBA head coaching experience, were listed at 7-to-2 to replace Mike D’Antoni, who resigned last week.
Talks between UConn and Ollie aimed at a new, far more lucrative contract than he has now, are underway, and the Lakers are expected to assess the free agent market before drilling down on hiring a new coach, so this process figures to take a while.
But Bovada has handicapped the field, based on names that have been thrown out here and there.
Ollie and Scott are 7-2, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, a New Britain native, and John Calipari are 4-1, and it goes on from there.
