Former Huskies legends will be arriving all week to participate in Jim Calhoun’s charity game on Aug. 4. Rudy Gay, who left UConn as a sophomore in 2006 and has become the NBA star many believed he would, will be one of them.
And on Friday, Aug. 3, he will be honored as special guest at the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce Breakfast. Gay, with the Memphis Grizzlies, will be presented the Middlesex Chamber’s “Role Model of the Year”
The Breakfast, at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, begins at 7 a.m., with the buffet at 7:45 and the speaking program from 8 to 9 a.m. Cost is $20 for members, $30 for nonmembers. For more information, call 860-347-6924 or visit the Chamber’s website.
Gay is being honored for his
deep involvement in the community. Here are some of his activities:

I thinks its great. But..did he come back to finish his courses and graduate? He left college after 2 years. Is he encouraging less talented young people to quit school too? If it wasn’t for his basketball prowess,(for which he tanked in the George Mason game if I am correct), he would be just another college drop out. That is the best the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce could get?
How dare you. This kid has done far more than you ever will and for all you know he does plan to finish his education. The things he has done for others will win him a great place in heaven, as for you, you may be looking up from a far worse place!
I actually don’t actually know how I ended up in this article, but I thought this posting was very good. I really don’t know who you actually are but surely you’re likely to a well-known blogger if you are not already
Wow! Question Rudy Gay’s intentions and you wind up in hell!
Why do you want to question his intentions? A man does what he feels is necessary. Along the way he may get recognized for it but if any of you have given of yourself then you know it’s not for the recognition, it never is. I applaud his continuing efforts for whatever reason he feels it necessary for him to partake. And to Buddy, basketball is just a game, get over the fact he may have had a bad game in college. No one cares about that now. And some of the world’s most successful people left college before graduating. Let’ see ….. there is Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg. How about Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford. Russell Simmons, James Cameron and Tiger Woods come to mind. Haven’t even mentioned the second Richest man in North America, who happens to give more away every year than you will probably make in your lifetime….Bill Gates!
I was actually thinking something like Australia. That’s down under you know!
