Saturday is “Game Day” at Gampel
We know now that Jim Calhoun will still be missing, and the Huskies will still be fighting for their season.
Saturday will be “Game Day” at UConn. ESPN will be there all day, bringing – or hoping to bring – a carnival atmosphere to Storrs. If you’re a student, or in the area, you are welcome to drop by and watch, free of charge, two ESPN live telecasts, one on ESPNU at 10 a.m., one on regular ESPN at 11 a.m. The doors to Gampel will open at 8 a.m., seating will be first-come, first-serve, and fans are encouraged to bring banners that represent UConn “in a positive manner.”
The building will have to be cleared at noon. The doors will re-open for ticket-holders at 6 p.m. for the 9 p.m. start.
If the Huskies, who are 27th in the latest RPI, can win, they’d probably have an NCAA Tournament bid all but secured. If they lose to the second-ranked Orangemen again, the final two regular season games against Providence and Pitt become must-haves. Calhoun could return for the Pitt game on March 3 at Gampel, if his back surgery and recovery goes well.

I saw that they are asking folks to wear white for the game day show, good start. But it would be nice if they (Uconn) showed some leadership and direction to tell fans to wear white to the game as well. Otherwise we’ll have our typical crowd wearing green, red, yellow and some people wearing orange!
I’ll be wearing Orange! I love a winner and The ‘Cuse fits that need. Plus the Orange have the highest rating in the Big East in regards to Scholar Atheletes—UCONN is dead last…..hence the upcoming sanctions.
If you love a winner then why are you a ‘cuse fan? The only thing that matters is winning the championship and Uconn and Syracuse will be in the exact same boat this year and next; watching the nat champ game from home. Before you bring up 2003, playing 2 “neutral” games in Albany was a joke.
White out for the game. Everyone wear white. Turn Gampel into a snow globe!
