UConn’s Shabazz Napier was the American Athletic Conference player of the week for the fifth time.

Napier, who will be honored with fellow seniors at Senior Night, before the game against Rutgers on Wednesday at Gampel Pavilion, had 17 points and seven assists in the Huskies’ 61-56 win at South Florida last Wednesday, scoring 13 over the last 10 minutes.

Then in a rematch Saturday with Sean Kilpatrick and Cincinnati, Napier had 18 points and 11 rebounds, his third double-double of the season, as the Huskies won 51-45.

Napier leads UConn (23-6) in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. In addition to being player of the week five times, he has been on the AAC honor roll seven times, strengthening his case for league player of the year honors.
