The game will be Saturday night, Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 to $25 and are now on at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office.  To purchase game tickets, call Ticketmaster at 1-800-345-7000, go to www.Ticketmaster.com, or visit the Mohegan Sun Box Office.

The NBA doesn’t allow promoters of events like this to announce which of its players will be attending, but I am told that nearly all the usual gang, the top UConn stars from the past 20-25 years, are expected to return, as they have for the last several years. So you are likely to see players like Ray Allen, Kemba Walker, Emeka Okafor, Caron Butler, Rudy Gay, et al.

We will have much more on this event, and hopefully some interviews with players planning to attend, in the coming weeks.

Here is an entire press release on the event:

                                                                                                         —————–

Hartford – Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun is hosting an alumni all-star basketball game – the Mohegan Sun / Jim Calhoun Charity All-Star Game – as part of the Mohegan Sun / Jim Calhoun Celebrity Classic.  Proceeds from the game and the entire Mohegan Sun / Jim Calhoun Celebrity Classic will benefit the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at the UConn Health Center.

This charity all-star basketball game, which has been sanctioned to allow NBA players to participate, will be played at 7:30 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, Aug. 4  Many of the great players who have played for Coach Calhoun during the past twenty years are expected to participate.  Ray Allen, Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, Rip Hamilton, Caron Butler, Kevin Ollie, Donyell Marshall, Khalid El-Amin, Doron Sheffer, Ricky Moore and Rudy Gay, among others, have played in past charity games at Mohegan Sun.  Two teams of Calhoun’s former players will play in a collegiate-style game.

“I am excited to be able to once again bring so many of my former players back together for what should be a special reunion for them and for the fans of Connecticut.  I am also pleased that proceeds from the game will go to fight America’s No. 1 killer – heart disease,” Calhoun said.

Since 1999, the Mohegan Sun/Jim Calhoun Celebrity Classic has raised more than $6 million for cardiology research and care at the UConn Health Center’s Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center. The charity game’s title sponsor is Mohegan Sun and it is presented by Whelen Engineering in association with Comcast.

Tickets are $12 to $25 and are now on at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office.  To purchase game tickets, call Ticketmaster at 1-800-345-7000, go to www.Ticketmaster.com, or visit the Mohegan Sun Box Office.

I’m very skeptical Rip Hamilton will be at the game. I can’t remember him ever showing up at any of the Alumni Charity Games.

    • I actually don’t actually know how I ended up right here, but I thought this blog post was fantastic. I do not know who you are but without a doubt you’re going to a well-known blogger if you aren’t by now
