UConn Gains Respect, Ranked No. 23 in AP Poll

by Categorized: Big East, UConn men's basketball

The Huskies reaped immediate dividends from their upset victory over Michigan Stage in the Armed Forces Classic. After getting little, if any respect in the preseason, ranked ninth in the Big East poll, the UConn cracked the national top 25 in the AP Writers poll, checking in at No. 23. Michigan State dropped from 14th to 21st.

In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Huskies got 58 votes, two shy of cracking the top 25, so unofficially they are 26th. The Spartans dropped from 14th to 22nd in that poll.

Among Big East teams, only Louisville, Syracuse and Notre Dame are ranked ahead of UConn this week.

I’m heading to Storrs in a little bit. so I’ll have some more on this later. Here are the complete polls on ESPN.com
