CHICAGO – Just tapping out a few notes as I wait out a long delay in Chicago, making my way back home.
The fog back in Connecticut made travel a nightmare for everyone, including Louisville. The Cardinals, ESPN’s Andy Katz tweeted, will have to travel to Hartford on Monday, the day of the game.
And that game takes on even more significance now. With Duke and Michigan losing, Louisville could vault from No. 3 to No.1 by game time. The polls come out midday Monday. And UConn, with its upset at No. 17 Notre Dame, could move back into the top 25.
The last time UConn played the No. 1 team was on Jan. 23, 2010, and the Huskies beat Texas 88-74.
Though I am not home yet, I assume the excitement is building for the game. Tickets were available on Sunday morning, and still selling in late afternoon. My guess is, it will be a sell-out, or close to it.
Here’s more info on getting tickets, UConn sends you here.
The Huskies, without a postseason, must look at games like this as their championship games – live in the moment, and this is a big moment. Here is my story for the Monday Courant.
