Want To Attend UConn’s Garden Party? It’s Going To Cost You …

Needless to say, tickets for the NCAA East Regional this weekend are going to be pricey. The fact UConn is there boosts the secondary market dramatically, with so many people now deciding they need to be there. That the NCAA is returning to the “Mecca” after more than 50 years makes it an historic event even without a local team in it. It’s the toughest ticket among Regionals.

Got an email this morning from Chris Matcovich of TiqIQ.com, a leading aggrigator of ticket sites, with some facts and figures. As of 4:30, I saw about 3,200 available for Friday, 9,200 for Sunday. You can access that page here:

I’m passing along info from Matcovich here:

  • The current average price for a full strip of tickets to the East Regional (Sweet 16 and Elite 8) is $969.57 (Get in of $386), which is the highest this year and also highest since the tournament was last in the NYC area in 2011 at Prudential Center ($905.56).  Below are the average full strip prices for the rest of the regions (Get in):
    • West Region- $589.83 ($251)
    • Midwest Region- $510.55 ($224)
    • South Region- $280.01 ($105)
  • The average price for Session 1 (Sweet 16 Round) with UConn, Iowa State, Michigan State, and Virginia at Madison Square Garden is $651.09 (Get in $299) which is the highest of any Session 1 Regional game this year.  Below are average prices for all other Session 1 Regional games:
    • West Region- $507.30 ($226)
    • Midwest Region- $295 ($139)
    • South Region- $145.23 ($49)
  • The most expensive ticket for Session 1 at MSG is currently listed at $5,780 for Club Sideline 4 row 1

There are also a couple suites available for Session 1, listed as high as $67,000
