WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Stanford tough: The Huskies had never won at Maples Arena before last year’s rout. Of course, it was Stanford on Dec. 30, 2010 that ended UConn’s historic 90-game winning streak. UConn has won five of the last six meetings.
Teammates and rivals: Hartley and Ogwumike were teammates on the 2012 USA Basketball 3×3 gold medalist team in Greece. That’s where Hartley suffered the ankle injury that haunted her last season.
Samuelsson connection: Aside from the two Samuelsson sisters already playing for Stanford, the Cardinal (and UConn) – are after the third, Katie Lou,a 6-3 forward in the Class of 2015, a junior at Mater Dei, where Mosqueda-Lewis played.
Scouting report: The WNBA’s Tulsa Shock are expected to be among those scouting the game. The Shock, Connecticut Sun, San Antonio Silver Stars and New York Liberty will participate in the upcoming Draft Lottery.
