UConn recruit A’ja Wilson of Heathwood Hall (Columbia, S.C.), the top-ranked unsigned player in the Class of 2014, set records last weekend at the Myrtle Beach Holiday Classic even though a loss to St. Joseph (Huntington, WV) ended it.

Wilson scored 56 points to break Ivory Latta’s record of 53 in a 85-82 loss on Saturday.  Latta, now an assistant coach at North Carolina and the point guard of the WNBA’s Washington Mystic, set the mark while playing for York (SC) High School in the 2002 tournament.  Wilson also set four-game tournament records with 167 points and 83 rebounds.

Wilson was fouled with 3:41 remaining.  She hit the back of her head and had to leave the game for two minutes.
