During his conversation marathon on Thursday at the Big East women’s basketball media day, Geno Auriemma discussed his idea that the NCAA find sites willing and able to host postseason tournament games and make those sites permanent.

Here is a story from the Asbury Park is New Jersey in which Geno discusses the plan.

The NCAA is now looking for a new site to serve as a Regional host for the 2013 Tournament after the NCAA removed its Trenton, NJ site in protest of the state’s decision to legalize gambling on pro and college sports.

  1. Geno set out a good plan for the NCAA. But I think mine is better. Dump the NCAA and start over!!! They only get in the way of true progress. Maybe someone gave someone a ride to the airport, maybe—put them on suspension, The NCAA WAY.

Geno was right in pointing out that there are at least 4 areas that could host the NCAA regional for the EAST Regional and the Big EAST has more none of them want the job. But they know how to complain. Notre Dame does not want to play in the Mohegan Sun’s court–gambling don’t you know?? Now ND is headed ACC’s way, the BE can go anywhere it wants. Goodbye Muffet and ND. Agnus too is a goner as is the West Virgina group. I shall only miss WV. A coach with class, he thanked us for supporting him, when we were only rooting against Rutgers.

  2. I am frightened out of my wits, C Vivian Stringer says her team is going to win the BE. Muffet better start practicing how to eat hind crow. I’m not sure what C Viv said, it didn’t make any sense to me. But Geno is right select 4 regional sites–make them constant. Make EXECUTIVE decisions–ask Obama, he’ll show you how– and select 4 sites. The Championship needs to be mobile not everyone wants to travel cross country to see the Women win. But he’s also right about the NCAA being outdated—fuddy, duddy, out of touch with reality — this isn’t your Grandma’s NCAA atmosphere Dorothy that was left in Kansas.
