Breanna Stewart has been named the 2012 Gatorade Female High School Athlete of the Year and will receive the award during a ceremonial dinner tonight in Los Angeles.

Stewart, 6-foot-4,  was one of six finalists and becomes the third UConn player honored by Gatorade. Previous UConn winners were  jTina Charles (2006) and Maya Moore (2007).

All of the Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year finalists will walk the red carpet and be featured as special guests during The ESPYs Wednesday night on ESPN (9).
