DFWelitebasketball: Brianna Turner’s Top 5 – Shocking!

by Categorized: Brianna Turner, UConn women's basketball Date:

What has become apparent over the years is that if a high school girls basketball player is considered elite, sooner or later their name will be associated with UConn.

It’s like what happens when a storm brews over Atlantic. The television stations suspend network telecasts and the Home Depot stocks 1,000 generators.

So here’s some news that will come as NO suprise. Brianna Turner, the Texas superstar, has whittled her college choices to five.

Can you guess which five they are.

  1. Kinder and gentler blog, please

This UConn Women’s site is for fans to present their OPINIONS. OPINIONS MAY OR MAY NOT BE FACT. WE ARE NOT HERE TO HANG ANYONE OR ELECT ANYONE AND NO ONES OPINION IS WORTH MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE. SO LET US REFRAIN FROM CALLING NAMES DAMNING SOMEONES OPINION. THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I.
Having said that Turner is amazing. She has skills coaches will do the dance of joy for. I first saw her last week on Jim Fullers site. She was ONE of many women who were exceptional High School players. How much does Geno have to pay to get her (No he doesn’t buy players–but people with this talent don’t come easily).
REMEMBER BE KIND TO YOUR (BLOG) NEIGHBOR

Since you are the only “game” in town I trust you will find me a more reasoned commenter than some of those you describe. I have not heard of this gal before so I claim a bit of I don’t know regarding her talent level. But I will make the observation that many talented players will not show up on UConn’s doorstep for a variety of reasons. EDD for “family” issues, the few who have left over playing time in some cases, Geno’s regimen in others. So when a Diamond Deshields heads elsewhere, as good as she might be, she could have found her way behind in her case other shooting or point players for a year or even two. With KML as a junior (13/14) and the three from this year as sophs when and where was she going to get minutes. So bottom line is what position and what size is this Brianna Turner? Maybe she’s a fit, maybe not. Time will tell.

If I recall correctly, DFWelite has a close association with Baylor. It has proximity to Baylor, Kim Mulkey’s daughter played on DFWelite, and both Griner and Sims are alumni (as is Moriah Jefferson). They’re an impressive basketball club. I’ll guess where Turner goes will depend on her fit and immediate playing time, on staying close to home (Baylor), and on her regard for academics (Stanford).

Bill Naples and Housy Runner–Interesting blogs. Bill, I wander the internet looking at the Women Basketball (college) sites. Where did you find the info on Turner, Jefferson, Sim, Griner??

Hey Rubarb FUNNY, FUNNY. Called negative reflex humor, but funny.

  5. Kinder and Gentler Blog

Rhurbarb–I apologize if I offended. That was not my intent. I want to reduce the contentiousness of the blog not create more furor. I am sorry if you thought I was lecturing.

Bill Turner is 6 3 and mobile. Very good scorer. Can almost make the Jordon dunk from the foul line move. She looks like she has spring in her feet. Geno (my guess) can always find playing time for everyone if they are very good and practice hard.

I thought if your name begins with BR you have to attend UCONN – isn’t that a new NCAA rule?

  9. HousyRunner

DFWelite has a website (http://www.dfwelitebasketball.com). Scroll down their roster of alumni and take a gander at an impressive list of athletes. I’d be interested to know more about the workings of these “elite” amateur clubs. Seems like a lot of money and power on the table.

  10. Max McGraw

Did you notice UConn leads the NCAA in Scoring Margin? Yup, the UConn team coached by Geno Auriemma, You know, that guy that complained ND ran up the score last year. The guys who coaches the UConn team that defeated Holy Cross by 81.

  11. Chris Saran

Max McGraw, Texass is right because you are an ass. Would you like UConn to dribble out the shot clock when they get too far ahead and then hand it over to the other team. Sorry, that’s not how the game is played. Wherever UConn goes they draw big crowds, which means much more revenue than those universities will see in ten games. Stop your whining and go back to Texyouass.

stanford shouldnt have room 4 brianaturner of course i thought that this year about ericamcaall before she picked stanford over uconn so she could be player number 18 out of an allowed 15scholarship players at stafnrod next eyar lol and baylor has 5 freshman this year and i think they signed 3 or more for next year and uconn wbball only will have 9players next year with 2 seniors so uconn needs briannaturner the most duke has many players already and i think notredame signed 5 this year to 1 for uconn anyways takecare all gouconn!yeah no tennessee on her list
