Buzzer-Beaters Very Rare For UConn In Last Five Years

by Categorized: UConn women's basketball Date:

Watching Shabazz Napier’s last-second winning shot over Florida last week spun the curiosity meter concerning close games and the women’s program.
Since the start of the 2008-09 season. the first of UConn’s consecutive undefeated national championship campaigns, the Huskies have played 203 games and have lost just 11 times.
Among all of those games, only 17 have been decided by less than 10 points and UConn has lost nine of them, eight over the last 78 games.
More incredible is that over the same 203-game span, only three have been decided by one point and UConn has lost two of those.
The Huskies defeated Baylor at the XL Center, 65-64, on Nov. 16, 2010. They lost to St. John’s, 57-56, on Feb. 18, 2012. And Notre Dame beat them, 73-72, at Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 5, 2013.
