Caroline Doty Does Not Practice
Geno Auriemma gave Caroline Doty the day off from practice Thursday to rest her aching left knee.
Doty has been experiencing lingering soreness in the knee, which has endured three operations in the last four years. She played 35 minutes Tuesday night in Louisville, despite the discomfort, and scored 15 points on five three-pointers.
A UConn spokesman said Doty is expected to play Saturday against Georgetown at Gampel Pavilion.

I’ve had knee problems since I was five. Pain is a constant. Knee replacements are not a guarantee of stopping knee pain. So, a tough kid like Caroline will do what she has done–suck up the pain, play with pain, and try to ignore it. What is great is the pain usually is lost while playing the game–then you pay for it.
Caroline, needs as much knee rest as possible–but she will keep hitting those three’s and be the leader this team really needs. She and her roomie will lead this team to the final 4. Or carry them on their backs.
Will she really put in another year, playing as a graduate student? Or will she try for an entry level coaching job with Geno, Jen, Jemelle, Carla, [have I missed any alums that are head coaches somewhere?]. I will miss her.
I don’t think she would want to miss the opportunity to play with the incoming freshman class and the growth of current teammates. So, I think she will play another year. The chances of winning a championship is better next year, though I wouldn’t count them out this year if Stokes continues to improve and KLM settles in a bit more.
