Caroline Doty To Miss Tonight’s Game
You can add senior Caroline Doty to the list of UConn’s injured guards this preseason.
The veteran point guard, who has recovered from three knee surgeries in her career, will not play in tonight’s preseason opener against Indiana (Pa.) after tweaking her left knee during the afternoon shoot-around at Gampel Pavilion.
The Huskies will also be without junior Bria Hartley, a WBCA All-American last season, who is out indefinitely with a medial sprain of her left ankle. Geno Auriemma said Thursday that Hartley might miss the season-opener on Nov. 11 against the College of Charleston.
“When I hear that it’s way [Hartley's ankle] better, and then in a couple days it’s going to be even better, and then a couple days it’s going to be good, that’s when I’ll know that we’re there,” Auriemma said.
Doty’s injury is not considered serious. She is expected to play in UConn’s next preseason game on Wednesday at the XL Center. Doty has been limited in the amount of time she’s practiced this season because of the chronic pain in her knees.
It’s likely both freshman Moriah Jefferson and sophomore Brianna Banks will get plenty of time at point guard.

Wow! Two down already. And I was wondering if the three freshmen would get substantial minutes early on. No problem now.
I get nervous everytime I hear about Caroline being hurt. It just seems like it’s telling her something.
good luck and hopefully a full and fast recovery.
Briana don’t push it let it heal properly
Only three Uconn players didn’t score tonight. Doty, Hartley and Buck. The 3 freshmen were good Gabby Moraih Jefferson settled down and played like a soph as did Morgan Tuck and Stewart. But KML played like Maya.. Banks and stokes were stealing everything except the hubcaps from UIP’s bus. Faris finally hit a 3 had 11 on the night and 9 rebounds (led the team) what else ???
frankly tired of hearng about doty.average player with sub-avg. performances.
I like Caroline but its time ror her to fade away into the sunset. Let the team gel and get ready for Baylor
hope she feels better really soon doty is a real ruff tuff cream puff and she always seems to get back up no matter what feel better soon.
Wow, what else is new about Doty, for 5 straight years she has been hurt. But this years team is so good, it really does not matter, it might be Genos best team ever when all is said and done. And Bria Hartley in my opinion is the best player on this team. She is also my favorite player. I love that kid, she is a cross between Diana Taurasi, and Renee Montgomery, she has a little of both of those players in her.
Why dont they ever show the preseason games on Tv? You would think that they would allow Uconn Nation to watch all the games. I had to listen to it on the radio.
But a ticket won’t you. Armchair fans have absolutely nothing to complain about.
ray-ray and zanfy, while they’re rightfully your personal thoughts and opinions, your comments about Caroline Doty are unjust and therefore not nice. Take a few moments and consciously think about the position she’s in. Do you remember when she lit up the court with her dazzling basketball skills and helped UCONN win several games? Instead of bashing her current aptitude and ever positive attitude, encourage her to be the best that she can be with what she has. Also, is this the way you would respond to a relative’s physical struggles? I doubt it. Remember, if this happened to Caroline, it (or anything else) could happen to you as long as you have breath.
Get better Bria and Caroline your fans love you and miss you on the court ! Two epic Husky players ….
Maybe the media should be looking into the real reason Caroline didn’t play on Friday night. She had a run in with the police after consuming too much alcohol on Halloween and had a run in with the police. All of the UConn student community are aware of this and are waiting for it to come out in the police blotter on Tuesday
I didnt hear anything about Doty having a run in with the police? Where did you hear that? She does not seem like the type of person that would be having run-ins with the police, as a matter of fact none of Geno’s girls are the type of people to have run ins with the police. Another made up gossip story I suppose.
