It would have been helpful if CNN had bothered to present Auriemma’s flat denial of the charges – by just including his semi-humorous comments they completely changed the tenor of the story. And they also failed to note that the only thing the 2 lawsuits they presented have in common is the lawyers representing the plaintiffs – viewers unfamiliar with the facts might conclude that the earlier case involved Auriemma as well. CNN should be embarrassed.
John, how about a story on Breanna Stewart being a finalist for female athlete of the year. When the decision comes down about the case, then write about it. We don’t need a weekly story until there’s a final decision.
Kelley Hardwick’s are a dime a dozen, she is pathetic.
Geno is one in a million and a wonderful guy.
This story is about greed and a woman looking to bank on someone she thinks would make a big story. Well the media eats this crap up and here we are. I hate this country’s news stations and papers. Its all negative.
I agree with Chris Saran. John, it appears as though you are obsessed with this. Write about something else. Please. Enough already.
“WHO DA THUNK IT?”
Write some real reports about our current players, incoming freshmen, or the recruiting trail. If you are the “real deal” women’s b-ball reporter, put in some leg and phone work. Do your job instead of rehashing old news.
Courant – Give this man something to do!!
John,
It seems that your main “talent” is cutting and pasting from other sources – even in stories that you run under your by-line.
Is that what professional writers are supposed to do?
A blog is the perfect venue to share informational snippets like this. Beat writers don’t just do features nowadays, they serve as informational hubs in this social media world. JA’s doing his job, as defined by the 21st century.
Come on, people. Very few of us, if any, enjoy this story or think Ms. Hardwick’s suit is likely to have any merit. But just because it’s unpleasant and the allegations may be trumped up doesn’t mean it has no news value to anyone. John made clear in the heading what the subject was, and those who don’t want to follow this topic are free to ignore the post and the link. But some people are interested in following this, in knowing what’s happening, what the consequences are. That’s enough of a reason for a reporter to post. You don’t tell a reporter not to report something just because most of us don’t want to hear about it. Some do want to hear. Some of us who don’t may learn something anyway or may be energized to do something constructive as a result. Change the rules. Protest. Write Geno a letter of support. Okay, now, I’ve blithered enough for a Friday afternoon.
Nicely said, dude in New Britain!
john will ask you if you invented Journalism–it’s obvious he didn’t.
But worse yet he’ll publish your email address –if he doesn’t agree with your comments.
Guess this isn’t a one man’s opinion any more is it JA??
As the commentors said : Do some real reporting about UConn women, like —that’s your job.

Comments on the internet are “opinions” AMERICANs like to use their first amendment rights. You don’t have to agree. There may be another way to voice your opinion, but this is what we have–and we use it. So, be a good American and accept diverse opinions. Unkindly words aren’t necessary–or even presenting the Email address of a commentor with whom you may not agree.
Isn’t the Constitution just wonderful???
John, Enough already! You are no better then most of the journalists today. How about articles on the upcoming Olympics, especially since 1/2 of the women’d team are former Huskies? Also maybe you can let us know what time and what stations the games will be on? That is what journalist are suppossed ro do, REPORT THE NEWS!
HOW ABOUT SOME NEWS ABOUT KELLY FARIS?
THERE HAS NOT BEEN A PEEP ABOUT HER FROM ANY OF HER TEAMMATES IN THEIR TWEETS.
HAS SHE DISTANCED HERSELF SO MUCH FROM THE TEAM THAT IT WILL CAUSE CHEMISTRY PROBLEMS?
WHAT HAS KF BEEN DOING SINCE THE SPRING SEMESTER ENDED?
IS SHE WORKING ON HER OFFENSIVE GAME?
HOW ABOUT SOME RECRUITING NEWS?
IS UCONN GOING TO SIGN ANYONE ANYMORE?
JOHN ENOUGH ALREADY!! WHY DO YOU THINK IT PROPER TO ADVERTISE THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF ONE OF YOUR ANTAGONISTS?? IS THIS THE WAY YOU HANDLED DISSENTERS????
WOULDN’T THE TIME SPENT BE BETTER GIVEN TO REAL STORIES.
SEEM’S GENOSGUY HAS GOTTEN UNDER YOUR SKIN?? WHY THE PERSONAL VENDETTA
According to a tweet from Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, UConn recruiting target Saniya Chong lists UConn among her final four schools.
She has since dropped Miami and North Carolina from consideration and is down to UConn, Louisville, Maryland and Ohio State.
Happy Birthday Svetlana Abrosimova
