Proving once again that there is life after UConn women’s basketball, CPTV is planning to simulcast four Connecticut Sun games, produced by sister station CPTV Sports, during the course of the last month.

The games being broadcast on CPTV and CPTV Sports include:
Sunday, August 26 at 5 p.m.        Chicago Sky at Connecticut Sun
Sunday, September 2 at 3 p.m.        Connecticut Sun at Atlanta Dream
Friday, September 7 at 7 p.m.        Phoenix Mercury at Connecticut Sun
Sunday, September 23 at 5 p.m.    Atlanta Dream at Connecticut Sun

Folks, I don’t need to remind you that the WNBA is as close to UConn women’s basketball as you can possibly get with a bathing suit on. Just take a look at this video produced by the league after the USA’s Olympic gold medal this summer in London.

The Sun currently features five former Huskies – Tina Charles, Renee Montgomery, Kalana Greene, Asjha Jones and Jessica Moore. There are 13 former Geno(ites) in the league, the most from any other college program.

CPTV Sports – the state’s only 24-hour local sports channel – has already independantly broadcast 13 Sun games. For the home games held in Mohegan Sun Arena, Bob Heussler will provide broadcast play-by-play and color commentary will be handled on a revolving basis by Kara Wolters, Rebecca Lobo and Jen Rizzotti.

CPTV Sports is available on Comcast cable channels 185, 187 and 744; Cox Communications cable channel 805; Cablevision channel 139; Charter Northeastern channel 223; Charter Western channel 224, Thames Valley channel 87 and MetroCast Channel 418. The channel is also available digitally over the air at channels 24.3 (Hartford), 49.3 (Bridgeport), 53.3 (Norwich) and 65.3 (New Haven).
