Donovan Not Ready To Talk Sun Yet

by Categorized: Anne Donovan, Chris Sienko, Connecticut Sun, WNBA Date:

UConn’s victory over Seton Hall was its 29th straight since Jan. 5, 1994 and its 44th in the last 45 meetings dating to 1987. It also closed the books on coach Anne Donovan’s three-game year run against the Huskies.

Donovan, the former coach of 2004 WNBA champion Seattle and the 2008 Olympic gold medal team, takes over the Connecticut Sun immediately after the Lady Pirates season ends, mostly like during the Big East tournament.

Sun GM Chris Sienko met informally with Donovan before the game. They haven’t had much time to see each other since her hiring in January because of her obligations to Seton Hall.

“I hadn’t seen Chris since the press conference [which introduced her in January at Mohegan Sun],” Donovan said. “But all I am going to talk about for now is Seton Hall. We are worried about Seton Hall right now.”

Ms Donovan, is a nice lady. Too bad she had to sit and watch that. In the end of the game, SH showed glimpses they could have been next year had Ms Donovan stayed at SH. What would Mother Seaton say about that??

  2. Diggins is my Cousin!!!

I understand why you UConn people don’t like Diggins. \\She is everything none of your players is. The Big East has seen the best dishing and shooting guard and team leader it has ever seen. Enjoy her while you have her. Next year McBride will be destroying Uconn–7 and 0 for Notre Dame, and counting.

“I understand why you UConn people don’t like Diggins. \\She is everything none of your players is.” You’re certainly right about that. None of the UConn players is a strutting, primping pain in the ass like Diggins. By the way, Diggins isn’t even in the same basketball universe as Sue Bird. Can’t wait until she hits the WNBA and some of those big mommas knock her block off.

how many national championships has Notre Dame won with Diggins??.Oh that’s right..zero…oops..last time I checked great players lead their teams to championships, especially when they have other great players surrounding them like Diggins as had for the last 3 years.Go do a little history lesson,Diana Taurasi led her team to three national championships, the last two surrounded by nothing by role players. When Diggins can accomplish something like that, then come bragging, until then, pipe down.

bogeyfree–great comment!! Let’s see if Diggins can even lead ND to the BE Championship. She is no where near the caliber of a Sue Bird or DT–even though she tries to strut like DT!! Watch out on March 4.
