ESPN.com: Notre Dame To ACC

ESPN.com is reporting that Notre Dame is leaving the Big East to join the ACC in all sports but football and wants out [or in] as soon as possible

The Irish will play five football games annually against ACC teams, industry sources told ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

Fighting Irish basketball coach Mike Brey confirmed the move with a text to ESPN.com’s Andy Katz, saying: “We’re going” to the ACC.

The Irish will join the ACC as soon as it can exit the Big East. The Big East currently requires members to provide 27 months notice to exit although West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Syracuse were able to leave earlier by paying a higher exit fee.

OK UConn, let’s see what you do now.

    Big East is definitely done!!! Uconn better start calling few conference commissioners to see which conference Uconn will join!!

    what a shock i mean nogt a shock notredame is running to the acc now i knew that would happen for sometime now and you wonder why i cant stand the acc they are always taking bigeast schools again and again also in underhanded ways but that being said uconn needs to go to the acc now and the acc better take uconn now the bigeast is done for and finished takecare all godbless gouconn!!!

    If Uconn opts to depart the Big EAst the BE will truly be done for. Those that have gone are Football schools. UConn is new to Football and isn’t a contender. Besides it is bleeding money. Money no one has to bolster a losing program. The ACC is a big Basketball Conference. Uconn is a good fit for that and Geno gets lots of games with them, except BC.

    I always said UConn needs to be in the ACC they should have moved when WV Pitt Syracuse moved!!! The new head at UConn needs to do some quick tap dancing to get this done!

    If only all the major schools in the country could have sat down and done major realignments without the noise and the rush for the “big bucks” we’ve become such a money hungry society good old fashion values and commitments don’t mean much anymore.     I hope hope hope that UConn moves to the ACC. Then I would be able to see the Lady Huskies at least once a year play UNC, Duke, and/or NC State. oh please, oh please move to the ACC …

    I knew all along that notredame would end up saying yes to the acc and turrn their backs on the bigeast the writting was on the wall when first the acc went after miamifla and vatech boston coellege but dropped bc and vatech for a while to go after miamifal syracuse and notredame but when notredame and syrauce said no the the acc that time the acc went crawling back to bostoncollege and va tech who then ran to the acc with miamifal like the bigeast was on fire then when big12 took away westva and acc again went after bigeast scolls and took away syracuse and pittsburgh i said watch notedame will leave for the acc 2 theres no loaytlty in college sports agnyomre and its all about the money and whats best for you so uconn needs to go to the acc to still be in a relevent confearnce thats top in bballa nd gets respect in football i love the bigeast but they are done for now for sure takecare all godbless gouconn!

    With the Big east clearly at the edge of the cliff, (College used to teach values and now the only value is chasing the $$$$), UConn would be better off in the ACC. The problem is that there probably is still resistance there to taking them. I’m sure if they were offered the chance, they would jump at it.
