Kelly Faris, the former UConn guard selected in the first round (11th overall) by the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun, participated in her first practice on Thursday after missing time with her injured left foot.
Faris suffered the injury at Notre Dame in the final game of the regular season on March 4 but played through it to help the Huskies win their eighth national championship.
“Kelly was out of her walking boot [on Wednesday] and was on the sideline getting in some preliminary work,” Sun coach Anne Donovan said Thursday. “She did a lot of half-court stuff today [Thursday] but hasn’t gone full-court yet.”
Donovan said it was doubtful Faris would play in Saturday’s preseason game at New York unless she showed enough progress to play full-court in Friday’s workout.
Guard Tan White (knee) returned to practice earlier this week and is scheduled to play Saturday. But forward Mistie Bass, who did not work Thursday (groin) is also doubtful.
