Geno Auriemma On Caroline Doty’s Health
As you know by now, senior Caroline Doty did not play in Friday’s preseason opener against IUP because of recurring soreness in her left knee.
Here is what Geno had to say after the game…
“There will be issues with [Doty’s health] all year long, and for the most part it will be nothing for anyone to worry or obsess about because there is nothing you can do about it. I would say that 90 percent of the time she is on the floor, there are no problems whatsoever. But given her history, there are just enough times that make you say, ‘Uh-oh.’
“And when those times come, you just walk away from it and let it getter better. We have a day off Sunday and I expect her to play on Wednesday [against Holy Family at the XL Center.”

OK FANs—No complaining this year about holding Doty and Hartley out of games. Geno is protecting them, not punishing them. If they don’t know their limits, it’s Genos and Rosemary’s job to know it. Keep them out until Jan or Feb if need be–we’ll need them both in the final runs.
Am I waaaaaay off the mark here? It seems to me Caroline has received one of the best educations available in this country, with all the fabulous comps of an athletic scholarship, but hasn’t earned ten per cent of it yet. Shouldn’t she be replaced by some talented youngster whose ankles or knees aren’t made of glass? I feel very sorry for her, truly! But she’s costing CT a bucket of money.
Caroline Doty did NOT play on Friday because she had a run in with the police on Halloween! She consumed too much alcohol and tried to break into someone’s apartment. She then continued to give the student attitude and would not leave, so he called the police on her. All of the UConn students know this and think the talk of her knee is a joke. If she really had a tweaked knee she should not have been jumping up and down on the bench the whole game giving high fives every time one of her more talented players scored a basket.
