Geno Heaps High Praise On Stewart

by Categorized: Breanna Stewart, Geno Auriemma, UConn women's basketball Date:

Breanna Stewart made her debut at Madison Square Garden truly memorable by tying her career-high with 29 points. She also had 10 rebounds for her third straight double-double.

After the game, Geno Auriemma had some very nice things to about his sensational sophomore.

“We have never had anyone like her,” Geno said. “We had some of the greatest players ever to play college basketball play here and we’ve never had anyone like her. Maya Moore was unique. Diana Taurasi and Tina Charles were unique. But we have never had anyone who has the God-given things that Breanna has. … Because you can not describe her [as a player] it makes her an impossible matchup against everyone we play. Unless you have an athletic 6-4 kid to defend her you can’t stop her from scoring. She is just too quick for your average big kid. And she shoots over any guard who tries to stop her.
.. We talk about getting her 20 shots a game and we’ve never said that about anyone else who has played here.”
