John, with the injury to BB , do you think Geno will began to develop his bench and reserves more ? We need depth going into March Madness and we are getting thinner and thinner in our rotations.
John, great to see Bria shoot so well.
Do you think she is finding her shot again?
I think if Bria and Moira step up their
Games the guards will be fine.
John
I am surprised there are so few comments on theloss of Brianna Banks. I think that loss is huge – especially since Bria has been so inconsistent – and MoJeff has been so impatient. Your thoughts?
Last 2 seasons, Doris Burke, Rebecca Lobo, Carolyn Peck, and Kara Lawson talked about UConn’s thin bench. There were high expectations this season for a deeper bench in the Final Four. Banks injury, along with nagging injuries for Hartley, Stokes, and Tuck, could lead to a thin bench in the Final Four.
SNOW SHOVE—YOUR COMMENTS TO JOHN ABOUT THE NASTY SIDE OF THE WORLD COMING OUT ON THE BLOGS WAS RIGHT ON. PREVIOUSLY THEY HAD A REPORTING BUTTON TO REPORT NASTY, DEGRADING, SWEARING (EVEN USING ACRONIMS) —THEY NEED TO BRING THAT BACK.
BUT UNTIL THEN NO ONE SHOULD RESPOND TO THE “NASTIES” THEY APPARENTLY ARE MENTALLY DEFECTIVE PEOPLE WHO NEED VIOLENCE AROUND THEM TO FEEL IMPORTANT. VERY SMALL INSECURE PEOPLE. ESPECIALLY BRIDGE.
Geno wants scholarships reduced to improve the game? He wants to improve the game? Then why sign the #1, #2, and #5 recruits for 2012-13? Then why sign the #1 recruits Tina, Maya, EDD, KML, Stewart? If he wants to improve the game, let other teams have all those high valued recruits. Put together a 12 player team of Kerns, Bucks, Engelns, and Johnsons. Geno is not interested in improving the game. He is interested in making millions, even if it is at the expense of 330+ lousy teams.
If you really followed the Uconn woman’s rise to power when Tenn. and Stanford were the top dogs, you would know they did not start out with even top 50 recruits and that the reason other programs suck is because their athletic department is not committed to making their teams or facilities better. You sound like the type of person who could win the lotto and complain that you had to wait an hour to get your check!
People hasten to judge in order not to be judged themselves.
I read the chat – - two comments to add:
- – I think maybe Morgan Tuck was reacting to and scared by the Banks ACL injury. Didn’t Tuck tear ACL in high school?
- – One (or more) of Kia’s teammates need to “light a fire” in her (maybe the way KML has talked to Bria). Obviously the coaches are trying to get through to Kia, but I think teammates would be more effective. They are a TEAM and THEY NEED HER!!
Not the first game Tuck missed. Some play hurt, like KML, Hartley, Doty. Some do not.
Did anyone ever attend high school or club games that Stokes or Buck played in? Were either Stokes or Buck aggressive on offense? Did either have a fire in their belly? Or were they just nice? Thanks.
Tuck wasnt practicing, by choice, way before Banks was hurt. This must be a first for Geno allowing a kid to take herself out of the game. She’s got a scholarship so why work?? They all should take them selves out of the practicises.
Stokes lacks fire. However, if you recall back in her recruiting days, Geno said she was a bit of a “project”. Was he right? Self starters like DT,SB, and other UConn All Americans don’t have fire problems. Stokes is just a passive person and inciting her to riot on the court is just not easy.
uconn is in big trouble without briane banks, shes the quickest on the team, need her to guard simms from baylor, cant afford to get faris in foul trouble, remember sklar diggins blowing by hartley last month and getting fouled, hit 2 free throws to win the game, bb should of been on her
Well I don’t believe BB is the quickest on the team that would be mo jeff but I feel bad for her and I believe most of the comments should mention her and not be so indifferent on just plugging up the holes..but I do understand that injuries are a part of the game. She will definitely be missed especially when we go up against Sims coming up very shortly,
Also Hartley played her correctly to the baseline..she was supposed to have help but there was no rotation. The goal is to keep Diggins out of the middle where she can score or dish. Second best thing happened she scored and there was still time on the clock for us to score.@robin boyce
