Mel Thomas In Paradise (Jam)
The organizers of this year’s women’s basketball Paradise Jam have completed the field of eight teams with Florida Gulf Coast.
Why is that as refreshing as a Caribbean breeze? Former UConn guard Mel Thomas is its director of basketball operations.
However, Florida Gulf Coast has been placed in the Reef Division and scheduled to play DePaul, South Carolina and Hampton.
UConn, in the Island Division, plays Wake Forest, Purdue and Marist from Nov. 22-24.

…ah yes, my top 5 all-time lady huskie.
keep on keeping on foxy…..u r “KOOL”
William—Mel is one of my 15 or 20 or 100 or 200 all time favorite UConn Women players. Everything I say, I like these–I feel guilty because I left out too many nice decent Women.
But I have always liked : Maria Conlon (Connecticuts Own), Marcie Zell, KJ Johnson, Will Crocket, Anne , the BT express, the Triplets—Cash, Jones, Tamika. And 170 more.
They are all excellent women first–great players second.
I loved Mels Book–it still makes good reading, give an inside view of the team.
But I am waiting for Christine Daileys book–the tell all book about who really runs this team and who is responsible for all of UConn Womens BB success!!!
Good work Mel–Uconn Nation still loves you.
