One Vintage Geno Quote From Villanova Romp
By John Altavilla On 2013/01/29 · 5 Comments · In Big East women's basketball, Geno Auriemma, Kelly Faris, UConn women's basketball
By now, you likely know you need to know about UConn’s 76-43 win over Villanova Tuesday at the XL Center before 10,324.
But I wanted to pass along a pretty funny line from Geno Auriemma about Kelly Faris, who had four assists, six points and eight rebounds in 28 minutes.
Faris had been struggling taking care of the ball of late, a fate coinciding with her heightened national popularity following her performance in the second half against Duke.
Here is what Geno said when asked whether Stef Dolson and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had ascended into the national spotlight:
“Well, we put Kelly Faris on Mt. Rushmore and she hasn’t played well since,” Geno quipped. “We need to slow down and make sure we don’t carve out any more busts of our players.”

Better tonight, though. Four assists and no turnovers, with 6 points and 8 rebounds.
Geno —Who is responsible for putting Kelly on Mt Rushmore?? Who sent a note to her parents saying “Thank you for her”??
Let us not knock her play in the Duke game, let us not call her out for doing that every game. let us all be very very happy we saw her do it at a very critical time in the Duke game. Remember Sue Bird–passed the ball took few shots, but when the game was on the line. Sue made the big plays–Kelly does the same thing.
I for one shall believe in Kelly and love every minuet I have with her. Her time at Uconn is so very short!!!
For those of us who live a great distance from Connecticut
(Georgia in my case) it would be wonderful to put the Box Score of EVERY game on you web site. Without it, we can only guess about how EVERYONE did in the game. Please make it a standard practice in the future.
You can get all box scores on the Uconn Huskies official site Rene. Good to know there are other remote fans. I’m in VA.
We’re remote as well, and that’s the Florida Naples, not the one in Maine or Italy either. But Rick it would be nice to get the box without having to go somewhere else to get it. I know that sounds a little lazy, actually it is a lttle lazy but that’s what only having to shovel sunshine will do for you.
