UConn is now 25-4 in regular-season openers under Geno Auriemma and has won its last 18 since losing 83-81 to Louisiana Tech in the first game of the 1995-96 season. They are also 28-1 in home openers with just one loss (against Iowa in 1990) soiling that mark … Auriemma is now 39-0 against former players/assistant coaches who coached against him as either head coaches or assistants. … UConn 2014 recruit guard Kia Nurse was at the game sitting behind the bench. She was the youngest player on the Canadian national team’s FIBA qualifier this summer.  Former NBA quarterback Donovan McNabb is her uncle and her brother, Darnell, was the seventh overall pick in the NHL Draft this summer by Edmonton. Nurse is not allowed to attend Monday’s Stanford game since a recruiting blackout period will be in affect. She is expected to make her decision with a month. … Freshman Saniya Chong did not have a turnover in 23 minutes. ….Hartford coach Jen  Rizzotti said she decided on a starting five with three freshman because she felt it would better aid rebounding.
