When the Connecticut Sun complete tonight’s game in Washington, they will return home. And Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena, they will play the Phoenix Mercury – and Diana Taurasi
Diana returned to the Mercury lineup on July 26 after her prolonged WNBA absence and has played a lot – and well – in her first three games. In fact, she scored 25 points against San Antonio her last time out.
When Taurasi didn’t immediately return to the Mercury after the Olympics, there was some wondering why that was. She had played so well for the USA in London, helping Geno Auriemma’s team win the gold medal. So her absence from the Phoenix lineup rubbed some people the wrong way, especially with the Mercury near the bottom of the West and struggling so mightily without her.
Taurasi hadn’t played a WNBA game since May 26 because of hip flexor trouble.
But she is back now and playing like you would expect her to play. And it will be nice to see her again Friday in Connecticut.
