The Eyes Of Texas Are On Notre Dame

Ah, its been a long time since we chatted about possible conference realignment in the Big East.

Of course, the Big East is probably talking about it even as we speak at their annual spring meetings in Florida. Who is coming, who is going, who is staying, who is happy … all that interesting stuff.

And then everyone plays golf

Saw and heard something interesting this morning about how the athletic director at Texas, while admitting that the Big 12 wasn’t thinking about any more expansion, has been keeping its eyes on Notre Dame as a possible member.

Apparently, the Big 12 would like to see the Irish come on board for all “olympic sports” which would mean no football, but possibly beach volleyball, bobsled and figure skating.

This all brings to mind all those conversations the media has had with Coach Auriemma about Notre Dame and its future; the Big East (finally for football), the ACC…

    the Big 12 can have ND. They are the worst and most selfish conference member any conference could have. The Bif East should throw them for not doing anything for the conference. All they’ve done is take since their partial membership began.

    I’m still wondering why the Northern schools don’t get together and form the BIG North Conference to include:

    UConn, BC, Syracuse, Penn St, Maryland, Pitt, Temple, Rutgers, Notre Dame, WVU, Cincy, Louisville.

    That conference couldn’t demand a huge TV payday? Give me a break! Every game would be a rivalry game in both basketball and football. Fans could drive to those games instead of trying to book a flight.

    Just get it done folks. The Big North!!

    I agree with the first commenter as far as Notre Dame and with the second commenter about forming a new league. That would be an outstanding league,if Notre Dame, was an equal and only equal member. Otherwise dismiss them.

    Muffet has Geno’s number in the Final Four 3-0 much like Geno had Pat’s number in the championship 4-0. If Notre Dame joins Texas, UConn can kiss recruiting Texas good bye.
