UConn Spokesman Says Tuck Medical Redshirt Info Premature

by Categorized: Morgan Tuck Date:

Over the last few days, I have been trying to find out what the decision was about the medical reshirt application submitted by UConn on behalf of sophomore Morgan Tuck. Tuck played only eight games as a sophomore before knee surgery ended her season in January.

Well, what do you know. In Tuck’s biography on the UConn women’s basketball website, the answer was apparently there all the time:

Here is what the website says:

2013-14 SEASON
Was forced to miss all but eight games due to knee injuries. Was granted a medical redshirt for the 2013-14 season and will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2014-15 campaign “

However, UConn sports information director Patrick McKenna just informed me that the notation was not an indication that the decision had been made yet, just an assumption.

So there is no answer yet about whether Tuck will repeat her sophomore season next year and have three years remaining with the program.
