Duke’s Alexis Jones scored 17 points to lead the United States to an 88-54 win over Canada in the FIBA U-19 World Championship Tuesday.
UConn’s Breanna Stewart scored 14 points and Morgan Tuck added 13 points to help the U.S. (5-0). Stewart, the Most Outstanding Player for in the Final Four, also added two blocked shots. Tuck had four steals. Moriah Jefferson, the UConn guard, added five points and seven assists for the U.S., now guaranteed to finish in the top two of the tournament’s Group F.
Tennessee’s Bashaara Graves and Kentucky’s Linnae Harper added 10 points. Center A’ja Wilson, a high school senior from South Carolina, had seven points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
The U.S. concludes the round robin of the tournament Wednesday against undefeated France to decide the Group F title
